Yes in deed. Plant phenotyping requires plant phenotyping platform if you are dealing with high throughput materials. It also depends on which plant part you want to phenotype, the root or the shoot. For shoot phenotyping, if you are dealing with small samples you can take series of images and generate quantitative data using image analysis software. However, for root phenotyping, nondestructive method is definitely expensive but not impossible.
