Greetings,

I am planning to conduct a comparative study using two of the models (e.g. MIROC-ES2L, INM- CM4-8) outputs in CMIP-6/PMIP-4, where I would like to show the variability of climate state from the Last Interglacial (LIG) to the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) of a specific region. That is, let's say I will be extracting temperature data of LIG and LGM, from the model output and then directly compare the change between the two.

However, most of the studies I came across used the PI as the reference, and which showed the variances of the LGM or LIG, with respect to the PI (e.g. LGM-PI anomalies). Would it be a valid method if I directly compare the same parameters (e.g. temperature, salinity, etc.) of LGM with LIG, without bringing PI into consideration?

Additionally, I would also be grateful if anyone could tell me whether all models in CMIP-6/PMIP-4 have the same experimental setup for a single experiment? For example, since both models are used in CMIP-6/PMIP-4 projects, would INM-CM4-8 and MIROC-ES2L possess the same experimental setup for LGM or LIG ? or these two moels encompass different setup for LGM or LIG?

Any help or suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Thank you.
