Is isopropanol a good solvent for plant extraction? What polarity components will it extract? Please, let me know. Because isopropanol can extract few non-polar components also and it can inactivate few enzymes for better extraction. I want to know whether it is a good solvent for polar component extraction from plant?

Isopropanol is the choice of solvent in extraction industry. Many spice oleoresins are extracted by blending Isopropanol with other solvents. Isopropanol as such is poorly penetrate in to plant material and hence less effective in extraction.
