William, we are building a database for ichnology that continues to grow in terms of its photoglossary of microbial, plant, invertebrate, and vertebrate trace fossils, principles of ichnology, references, links to other websites, and a glossary among other things. See http://ichnology.ku.edu/

The part that is slowest to build--but we are looking for funds to do so--is the back part of the database that will have ages, formation, units, lithofacies, behavior, and paleoenvironmental interpretation. Our goal is to parallel its construction so that the ichnology database will work seamlessly (hopefully) with pbdb. We are always looking for input and collaboration on this project.

I have been thinking about a back part as well. I think that morphology will could be a very useful component, not detailed/comprehensive morphological descriptions but characteristic or key morphological features.

I have looked at Specify since it is used by museums to manage their collections, coincidentally Specify is a being developed at the University of Kansas. I am not sure if it will suit the purposes of a trace fossil database. I may be too big, have too many features designed for specimen type databases. But I am only beginning to understand databases though. (here is the link to Specify http://specifysoftware.org/content/welcome-specify-6 )

I am also building tracefossils database , and I have good data on Indian trace fossils.

Really exciting. I was in search of similar repository...physical and e-database, where we can contribute also. Yes, I have covered several basins of Indian Gondwanas (Late Carboniferous-Early Permian) and a part of Himalyan foredeep basins (Sarmatian-Pontian) too. Please let me know how do i engage myself :)
