As I am nearing the end of my diploma studies (equivalent to masters degree) I was looking for potential PhD positions. I had a rather hard time finding something since most of the work in ecotoxicology is done concerning aquatic environments. Furthermore, a lot of terrestrial studies are done in an "agriculture-oriented" context. Tests are done with pests and beneficials or soil and so on. In my opinion those studies are concerned with farmers' needs. I would like to do work with non-target areas and organisms where the impact of pesticides on behaviour, trophic interactions, ecosystem structure/functions, etc. is studied in an ecological context.
Are there work groups doing research in this field?

They all do the type of terrestrial ecotoxicological research that you are interested in. It is easy to find them in the Web of Science, G Scholar or Research Gate, and then also to find other scientists.

However, I think there are no non-target areas and "agriculture-oriented" subjects concern not only farmers' needs but mainly the needs of consumers that is your own needs.
