I am trying to "tease out" whether evangelicals vote based on their faith, and, if so, are there gradations in the depth of their faith that influence voting behavior? In other words, do some evangelical voters cast their votes more on faith or more on non-faith issues?

It might not completely be related to your question, and maybe it's not useful to you, but the study "Religion and Voting Behaviour in Belgium. An Analysis of the Relation between religious beliefs and Christian Democratic Voting" (S. Botterman and M. Hooghe, Acta Politica, 2012) shows that religion is still an important determinant of the vote choice - at least in Belgium.
It might also be useful to find more relevant literature.

You can find a lot of useful information at the PewResearch Center, such as statistics as to how much does each religious group lean towards each political party, updated with the data for the 2016 election.
