I don't know the herbarium you mentioned and it does not appear on the list. May you ask the herbaria from Basel if they know how to contact it. It could have been merged with one of the herbaria from Basel...

PD: Maybe more people could help you if you would reveal at least which genera you are looking for... We have an excellent library system in Swizerland! But you gave so less information. Do you mean Allioni the botanist or Allionia the genus?

Hi Carolina.

I already contacted BAS herbarium where Bauhin's collection is deposited, but I do not get reply from a long time ago. I did not find the herbarium vouchers digitalized anywhere. And it is mandatory prior to perform any formal typification.

As you advised, I am adding the genus I am interested in (Carex). Let see if anyone has some additional information.

I did, but the communication stopped suddenly. I saw in Index Herbariorum that all the information regarding BAS collection was removed. May it be that BAS has been merged with BASBG?

Please send the names of the species and the collection numbers of the specimens. If they are types, I may be able to find digital images for you.

I have found a page (http://botges.unibas.ch/herbar/herbar.htm ) telling that the collections of BAS and BASBG now are housed at the same location. According to this page, they have started digitalization of their collection. Obviousely they have not done Carex yet.

Thanks for the help. I already contacted the BASBG curator and he told me that BAS is a separate collection, and that Bauhin's herbarium is not going to be digitalized. More dead ends. :S
