Earlier research on coumarin showed very promising results, but some of the in vivo studies using rodents showed toxicity, which was discovered to be a metabolic pathway that is not usual in humans. But the compound was taken off the market in a number of countries, which is a real shame since it is one of the few and only pharmacological approaches that has shown success in reducing protein accumulation.
