Recently in industry, Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) measurement is carried out manually. I'm working on the automatic / semi auto real time measurement of the ESD to assist industry on the ESD value monitoring.
I would suggest you to refer to some international standards like IEC61010-X etc. for the EMI/EMC tests that also include the ESD tests. Developing an automated system is a good initiative but to make it acceptable to the industry, it is better if your design confirms to such standards. Best Luck!
we did some Investigations in 2009. But i am not sure if that fits your question. We (SCHNIER) developed a product, a so called coulombmeter. it is also done manually and measures the transferred Charge during a spark. But maybe you need something to measure the electrostatic field permanently. Here i did some research too and found not to much but products from omron(ZJ-SD) and Panasonic (EF-S1) and simco-ion (easy-IQ). Good Luck. Rudi - SCHNIER Elektrostatik GmbH Germany
