Indigenous cultures have used songlines as a way of mapping and understanding landscape, culture and country for many thousands of years. I'm interested in how these songlines might contribute to or inform a new type of urbanism and new conceptualisation of place in urban areas and small towns.

there are few coastal town studies in India featuring the local folk songs of fisher communities in the Malabar region. Their songs are symbolic to the cultural ecology of the region.
they have specific collection of songs during the offshore season.

Have a chat to Asst. Professor Clint Bracknell at University of Western Australia. he has been working on Noongar songs in south Western Australia for a number of years. Also in this area Professor Len Collard who has been working on Noognar language. They are both very accessible and knowledgeable on songs and song lines in Western Australia.
