Is anyone aware of a paper where cuprizone is injected into the brain or spinal cord? I was just wondering if it was possible to induce local demyelination this way.
for inducing focal demyelination you may also consider the targeted EAE model (local injection of a cocktail of inflammatory cytokines following MOG sentitization). As compared to diffuse EAE -the more conventional model- this approach will yield nicely reproducible lesions resembling MS along with neuromotor deficits in rats. I would be very surprised if direct injection of cuprizone into CNS tissue would induce anything but massive, unspecific necrosis.
Ya, you can try this recently published paper 'Anatomical Distribution of Cuprizone-Induced Lesions in C57BL6 Mice'. Journal of Molecular Neuroscience 57(2) · June 2015. DOI 10.1007/s12031-015-0595-5.
I strongly believed that it may be of help to you.
