is anyone aware if there is any treatment that can cause an increase in plant fresh weight but a decrease in dry weight? and what could be the physiological explanation of that?
Drought, possibly. But even under this case overtime, the dryweight will increase relatively. Maybe, manipulating the level of carbon dioxide and imposing drought simultaneously, can reduce the dryweight. Just a thought, not too sure.
Treatment of complex hormones (IAA and gibberellins) and potassium salts leads to the accumulation of water in the plant tissues. It results an increase of biomass but substantially dry weight unchanged. You need to read the article about the IAA and GB, to know the concentration and periodicity of treatment.
