I have complied a survey of water absorption coefficients and refractive indices in an Excel spreadsheet (see attached file). I also have made a 'recommended' set. I would be interested to receive comments from those who use this data sheet.

The report Guangming Zheng suggested (Röttgers et al. 2010) is interesting as it includes derivatives of the absorption and refractive index with respect to temperature (and salinity). But if I remember correctly, they don't present new data, but their proposition on how to bind different data sets and they provide a code to compute the properties at different temp and sal.

I agree with Alexandre and thanks for pointing that out. This formula is convenient and covers a broad spectral range. It is based on measurements published by others.
