I'm working on a social inclusion project in ultra poor programs. I am interested in employing capability perspective. So I would like to know the theoretical links between CA and social inclusion.
Hi Archana. Sen's work explicitly informed discourses of social inclusion and exclusion in the late 1990s/early 2000s. There is a plenty of empirical literature - both academic and 'grey' - from that period which drew on the capabilities framework to operationalise concepts of exclusion/inclusion. A literature review including that period of time should yield all you need.
Dear Archana, adding to Jo's answer, I would like to specifically highlight Sen's distinction of favorable inclusion versus unfavorable inclusion and exclusion which he used in his paper: "Sen, Amartya. 2000. Social Exclusion: Concept, Application, and Scrutiny, Social Development Paper 1, June 2000, Manila: Asian Development Bank." I have applied the CA, inter alia, for analyzing poverty and social exclusion for the bottom of the pyramid in rural India as well as in Germany for labor markets in general and, most recently, for the exclusion/inclusion analysis of refugees in Germany.
