One of my examiner suggested to use RSM in my analysis. I'm studying incipient motion of sediment and in my experiment I varies my sediment mixture, sediment deposition thickness and channel slope. Could anybody suggest suitable literature on RSM and how to use it in my analysis?

I think it is neccessary to know mechanisms and factors(variable) that effect incipient motion of sediment and how they change and you pay attention limitation and facility of laboratory equipments. DESIGN EXPERT software is useful.
In order to optimize a process, one-factor at-a-time approach is generally applied. This classical method is time consuming and expensive. Furthermore, possible interactions among other operating parameters are ignored, which gives rise to misleading conclusions. Actually, the response of a process occurs by the interactions of different variables affecting the operation. Response surface methodology considers the probable interactions between operation parameters. As you have already stated, you have three independent parameters (sediment mixture, sediment deposition thickness and channel slope) in your study and you can consider the possible interactions among those variables.
