This is called Nereda technology. Nereda technology is considered to be the first full-size aerobic granular sludge technology. The first industrial installation was operational in 2005 followed by the first municipal installation in 2009. The installations implementing this technology is already numerous on a worldwide scale and the list of references is spread exponentially. The technology is recognized and applicable to the largest installations.
Nereda solutions are used worldwide for the sustainable and economical treatment of industrial and domestic wastewater.
The aerobic granular sludge usually is cultivated in SBR (sequencing batch reactor) and applied successfully as a wastewater treatment for high strength wastewater, toxic wastewater and domestic wastewater. ... The use of aerobic granular sludge technology is one of them.
Aerobic granular technology presents several advantages compared to activated sludge processes. Scale-up of granular systems modifies hydrodynamic conditions, which have large effects on both the formation and stability of aerobic granules. In Brazil, many small communities lack wastewater treatment facilities.
Please note that Nereda is just a commercial name from a Dutch company. Nereda is developed and applied mainly for municipal sewage.
We and other technology suppliers developed and applied granular activated sludge and other advanced activated sludge technologies since 25 years on both industrial and municipal wastewater in both continuous flow and SBR systems.
We typically achieve 50% - 90% better performance at lower cost as compaired to other AS systems.
