Is anyone has an idea or observation on the topic? As Transfusion Medicine is a developing branch and lot of work has to be done. These are so many sophisticated terminologies have been prevailing like immuno-sensitization (TRIS), Alloimmunization, Immunomodulation (TRIM), unknown and so on. Are these complications leads to reduce the life span of a person?

Blood transfusion has its own attendant risk which includes transfusion transmissible infections, iron overload, incompatibility reactions. However if all these are ruled out, some other things may be due to certain punctuations which may not be preempted.
Regarding the question: "Is a single transfusion can reduces the life expectancy of a person?" The aswer is: there is no evidence in the literature proving any reduction in life expectancy after a single blood transfusion.
There is a risk of infection with unknown agents- the technology in place in good centers guarantee very low risks of infection with any infectious agent already known. There is also a risk of immunological reactions but again the risk is in theory small. Incompatibility reactions are also very, very rare if all apropriated procedures are followed. And other problems such as alloimmunization or iron overload are highly unlikely for those who need a single blood transfusion during his/her life.

Thanks for sharing the view on the area under discussion .There is a established terminology; Immunomodulation, a complication of a transfusion caused by the donors’ HLA antigen in the host even after transfusion, can leads to auto-immune conditions in the host which can shorten the life span of a person. My quarry on the subject may be the hypothetical, based on the fact that we have encountered two cases of severe autoimmune disorder with the past history transfusions.
