When interpreting the arithmetic means (of the intercultural competence levels), the interval 1.00–1.79 was evaluated to be “very low”, 1.80–2.59 to be “low”, 2.60–3.39 to be “middling”, 3.40-4.19 to be “high”, and 4.20– 5.00 to be “very high” (Polat, & Ogay Barka, 2014, p. 28). Is there another approach?

This is a model I have used that has a four-point scale. You might be able to create a rubric to evaluate individual people using this scale.

Marek 's four levels widely known as dimensions of intercultural competence: knowledge, attitudes, skills, and awareness. Bennett & Hammer's IDI, Chen & Starosta's ISS, lee Olson & Kroeger' ISI and Fantini's EAIC are several instruments for its measurement. The Polat & Ogay Barka's interpretation works well. Bujar Adili The rubric linked below is NOT a rubric for intercultural communication but is an example of the approach I would take. It creates a point-based system and then describes what different point values mean. Doing this reduces subjectivity when multiple people are coding. This is a theory-based approach.
