It depends on the purpose of your study and on the destination. Some destinations are fully depending on the international tourists others are happy with domestic ones. Both categories of tourists are important, and not just "the number", rather a portrait of the tourist and experience.

It actually depends on the aim of your study. If you are giving emphasis on the revenue from tourism i.e. the economic aspect then you need to know who is the main contributor of that and accordingly emphasize on either 'international' or domestic. If your study is on tourism related cultural exchange and assimilation then probably 'international' tourists will be of greater importance.

It actually depends on the reason why you want to embark on the study. For instance, if it is for the development of domestic tourism participation and enlightenment or economic benefits for the nation.
