I am designing the classical Stroop colour-word task with emotional stimuli presented as primes. Normally, the task design includes an inter-trial interval of 1000 ms. However, a few studies have used a variable ITI between 850-1100 ms.

Question:

1. Is it beneficial to use a variable ITI in Stroop tasks?

2. What does the trial-wise variability depend upon?
