Hemoglobin of sickle cell patients polymerizes at low oxygen condition.
Does anyone know of a way to simulate this process of reversible, oxygen-dependent, hemoglobin polymerization?

I understand you are referring to treatment of scd.
My field is instument and measurement development to help research find better treatments.
For this I would prefer to test and develop the instrument using heathy human or animal blood that is modified to show the sickling behavior instead of using patient blood.
Such a marerial could also be used as a control
Try doing the solubility test by using the washed red cells from normal (Hb A) blood sample with regent having higher molarity of Potassium phosphate buffer - e.g. 3 mole/L.
