I don't know if my way fits your question. I selected to enter industrial field after my Ph.D. study. After nearly ten years' practice, I went to University to do research and teaching. It seems to be a very fruit way for me in my career development. We can have further talk in private message.
It depends of your professional goals . If you intend academical career, it’s interesting to teach for some period, to take part in some research group (according to your subject going on with the results of your doutoral thesis , for example). I agree that it depends on one's goals and what they are hoping to accomplish with their doctorate. Additionally, the field of study has a significant impact on the paths that are available to a recent graduate. However, waiting to make a first step toward one's career until AFTER completing a PhD program is a big mistake! It's important that we use our time in our programs to prepare ourselves for our future careers. As such, if we are hoping to get a research postdoc, we need to involve ourselves in quality research studies in addition to our dissertations, associate ourselves with big players in our research area, and pay attention to postdoc ads very early on in our programs. Similarly, if we want tenure-track teaching and research positions, we need to leave our programs with CVs that illustrate we are capable of being tenured. Depending on one's ultimate goals, I would advise them to be working during their programs to accomplish the specific experience that will be important in their post-PhD career.
You are in a enviable and privileged position having proven yourself at the highest and most desirable levels of research and development in an area of study you chose to excel in and bring your creative skills and talents. To be recognised by your superiors, already qualified to make those judgements and your peers who recognize how hard, determined and resolute you need to be to succeed with half the resolution and commitment you have already displayed consistently. So please don`t let yourself or them down by accepting a position in your career journey that does not stretch your obvious talents or betray the contribution you have already made in being recognised and qualified at such an advanced level of study. Take a sebbatical or unpaid holiday to tour places you have never seen before to relax, stimulate and clear your mind for 6 months or a year, but make sure you are in the right mood and mindset before you make decisions and commitments that could affect the rest of your career and life journey.

In most students turn in for Ph.D are mostly those already on the job. They either come in as sponsored candidates by their employers or as self-sponsored. However, I will expect that after graduation, such a student should be able to add to whatever skills his/her specialization possess. If it is in the teaching profession, we we expect to see the impact of the new knowledge he/she has brought into the classroom and so on. With regards to Websites, this is difficult question to answer because everyday new websites come on board. But as a researcher, you will be required to visit the predatry sites to enable you isolate the low impact sites. When you have succeeded in doing this, you then go to the sites related to your specialization and for the latest journals that are available.

I would recommend from my own experience, that you continue doing research in the area(s) that interest you. You probably feel like you don't ever want to write another thing again but consider the contributions you would make in your field and the headstart you'll be by getting published prior to landing your job or seeking tenure if in Academia.
Academic postdocs: The best way to get an academic postdoc position is through your network. Talk to your advisor, collaborators, former lab mates and friends. This will tell you quickly which groups in your field (or in a related field) are looking for postdocs and have the money to fund you.

In my very honest opinion, the very first step after taking a PhD degree is to evaluate if you liked to do what you did. You should consider if working in the PhD topic - and the raw reward you took so far – was satisfactory for the time and commitment you put into it. I have been more and more prone to advise my students to evaluate whether their well-being and happiness are being compromised by working on PhD’s that they do not actually enjoy.
Do not thing consider your satisfaction with the PhD degree regarding your publications/achievements. Consider how motivated and “electric” you were while you did your PhD. If you like the journey of getting good research done, then you know you may like to continue doing it.
Choosing between academia and industry is very difficult. There are positives and negatives on both. You should evaluate how both industry and academia are “treating” fresh graduates. I know from experience that academia is a tough business for fresh graduates in many places in Europe and the Americas.
Moreover, a good research path from this point may be determined by who you decide to work with… perhaps even more than your skills as a researcher. Connections and network are making a difference in how successful a researcher may become. So, if staying in academia, choose carefully a potential post-doc supervisor! His influence may be determinant of your success.

At least in the field of education, whoever has completed their PHD, must take their knowledge and research results to lower levels of education. The effort to bring complex knowledge to basic education students - or their teachers - is an exercise demanded as a social commitment for those of us who specialize in one area. Furthermore, it is a way to rebuild the chains of knowledge from the childhood of our students.
I have been patiently reading about dozens of how one can or should proceed with a Ph.D. in hand and there will be no end in sight. I had my Ph.D degree from a mediocre program and spent only 1.5 years beyond the MBA to get it done--dissertation and all. None of the faculty except the director had much reputation in the area of research. At the time, I already had three textbooks selling nationally and internationally translated into four languages. Those who graduated with me ended up in regional teaching schools out in nowhere. Luckily, my dissertation was breaking new grounds in HRM. I used field research to figure out how does an organization know when an employee of value might leave voluntarily. The paper I did was based on my dissertation and end up published in a top refereed journal. Soon after, I was invited to be on the editorial board. The visibility and further published research ended up at University of Virginia.

You must first develop your research skills, then search for topics close to your specialty, and search for recent topics related to reality.
I suggest to publish his dissertation through books and journals, so that the results of his research can be read and useful for other as well as introducing his expertise to outsiders. Especially if the results of these studies can be implemented that make a major contribution to society.
Mukhtar, although the stage you described could be challenging for the early career individual, it is important to play to your strengths, be they in research, in teaching, in administration or whatever it may be and then try and find work that would highlight such strengths. Good luck.
I have read so many comments about what to do with a new doctorate and the idea of post doctorate work. I keep remembering that the doctorate is a research license that certifies that you have the tools to do empirical, field, or lab research. The approved dissertation that awarded you the doctorate should be published in refereed journals for your peers to acknowledge or learn from. Publishing it in books is NOT recommended, because you write a textbook for the student to learn from not for your peers. Unfortunately, not every dissertation makes it through a refereed process. Based on years of experience on refereed journal boards, we were lucky to approve 2 or 3 papers out of 10 papers submitted. If you ended up publishing it in mediocre journals, it could be the kiss of death for trying to publish in the top journals in the future. It is also a reflection on the caliber of the dissertation committee that approved your work in the first place. This is only an opinion.
