The current technological revolution is determined by the development and use of new advanced information processing technologies in various applications. Therefore, artificial intelligence develops dynamically in various applications.

AI means embedded systems, technologies, or objects in general that are "millions of times more intelligent and faster than an average human". They will very most likely merge with human in distant future.
There are many domains that would benefit from AI in science, life and business, yet it depends on the interests of influential investors, wherein they usually decide to bet.
Due to recent moderate economical risks in financial markets, there has been continued attractions in the financial services sector, as the technology sector is slowing down, and since manual data analytics is insufficient in the finance sector. It is also referred to as AI in FinTech, for instance, encompassing several branches, including trading, investment, equities markets, derivative markets, cryptocurrencies, banking, and the list goes on.
In academia, there are added investments in healthcare (e.g., bioinformatics as @Jorge G Pires discusses, IoT in medicine), technology (e.g., self-deriving vehicles, Internet applications, processing systems) and defense (e.g., Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems known as ISRs, Space Systems) sectors in information or data processing and assessments.

Thanks for the interesting discussion, I am not sure I can add something interesting to the discussion, but he it goes!
I have been in several events about artificial intelligence, and read some books, I shall not get into the merits of it, however, we should define better what do we mean by artificial intelligence, nowadays the term is quite broad and can be misleading in some occasions. Let’s suppose you are talking about the classical interpretation of artificial intelligence, widely applied in the last decades and classical books of artificial intelligence.
I would say medicine (life science in general), since I am from biomathematics.
You may argue that they already make good use of it in medicine (e.g., systems able to spot cancer region from imagery), I would say not for some reasons.
First of all, we still have some issues such as letting a “machine” taking smart decisions, therefore, a juridical/ethical issue (I have seen this issue comes up in several conferences and workshops).
Second, nowadays, to the best of my knowledge, the algorithms available for gapping medicine and artificial intelligence do not take real decisions yet, they are capable of spotting cancer and anomalies in image of tissues for instance, but just that.
An artificial intelligence of the future for medicine should be able to suggest treatment independently, diagnostic for instance, is still a problem for algorithms, “encoding” the “good sense” of doctors, the experience of a professional (by the way, I was seen a nice TED talk those days about jobs that might disappears in the future and doctors are in the last, I am not sure why, but I would guess because of artificial intelligence based online systems, in some occasions, a simple neural network implementation can give nice results). A doctor sometimes is able to spot a medical condition from the “walking/movement” of someone, imagine if a machine could do that from videos? That would be amazing!
Certainly the solution goes beyond medicine, but could really support medical problems!
