Gender here is not to be interpreted from the biological point of view rather the socio-cultural constructed characteristics of women and men, such as norm, roles and relationships of and between them will play a major role in interpreting gender with regards to postcolonial literature.

Great recommendations above, I am exploring domestic violence in precolonial and post colonial Zambia and Africa given our strong matriarchs, I am hoping to find some valuable info in the literature above.
Gender roles should not be defined in terms of men and women.The approach should be more diversified to include LGBT sexual orientations.This a controversial phenominon that has a serious impact on how we view society today.Although we are socialised to understand gender in terms of female and male roles we should further exploire how lgbt impact on human interaction patterns and policy formulation.
