I have synthesized the Zn2SnO4 sol-gel for preparation of thin film using spin coating, and I am confused to find weather it is in Zn2SnO4 form or something else.
Please suggest, which way I can find the answer, on which characterization technique I can better understand the results.
Use X-rays diffraction. Please, find standard XRD profile of pure zinc stannate (at KaCu) in the attachment. Your welcome!

Zn2SnO4 (Zinc Tin Oxide) is a ceramic material. You might see it in the precipitate in a partial hydroxide form. In the stable sol-gel solution you should have a mixture of partly hydrolyzed precursors (alcoxides, salts, etc.).
Zn2SnO4 phase will be detectable by XRD or TEM only after crystallization (thermal) of the thin film deposited using your precursor solution or a bulk gel. Crystallization conditions of ceramic oxides require oxygen. The optimal T might be found by DTA.
