In what areas of scientific research, are questionnaire studies most helpful and why?
Mostly questionnaire studies comes in when you are dealing with a descriptive research. For instance you would need a questionnaire if you want to know the impact of a type of fertilizer (Eg. Organic manure) on the yield of a farmer's produce and his income over the previous years.
Because he will be the only person to give good accounts and coherent values when it comes to his income and yields on the previous years, Because you can't conduct a normal research to get such a data you weren't present during the past years.
Also questionnaires are applicable when testing or quantifying or having a qualitative analysis on a product such as sensory analysing and many more.
But with interventional researches such as the normal scientific experiments we know, we don't need questionnaires.
For example, you don't need questionnaires when it comes to "comparing the sugar content in cashew Apple from different agroclimatic zones". With this you have to actually conduct an intense scientific research with experimental designs.
