This equation gives a simple fitting parameter with less physical significance... A is just a proportionality constant so don't bother... Think about the value of n which tells you about the type of transition e. g direct or indirect... Allowed or forbidden.
In your case what is the value of n if it is 1/2 the the transition is directly allowed. Check it. All the best
I dont know its name. "Optical Processes in semiconductors" by Pankove shows how to calculate value of A for different cases.

The constant A sometimes called the band tailing parameter and it is an energy independent constant.

Hi, colleagues! We recently published a new method of spectrophotometric data analysis very similar to the Tauc method but with many advantages over it. In the Tauc method, the main problem is to determine the energy gap without knowing the nature of the optical transition (described with the parameter m). Our method does not require knowledge of the parameter m. The value of energy gap and parameter m can be obtained simultaneously thanks to one linear fit.
