I'm having 3 spots on my TLC plate. The middle one Rf is slightly above the limiting reagent and lower one is having same Rf with excess reagent
Can the other spot be my product or in Suzuki the boronic acid have a tendency to couple with each other.
My catalyst is tetrakis and base I'm using potassium carbonate and toluene:ethanol as my solvent
Boronic acids can easily form dimers and cyclic trimers, but I am not sure if it can be called "coupling" in the context of your question. Perhaps you have in mind homocoupling, to which Jurgen pointed in his reply above.
Anyway, usually di/tri/oligomerization of boronic acids is not a big problem in synthesis since these species break down to parent boronic acid during the reaction. If you still want to avoid complications resulted from boronic acid oligomers formation, boronic esters can be used (like pinacolates, etc).
