I'm currently working on a research paper on What are the negative effects of social media activities on teenagers' mental health. I am struggling with finding a theory for this research question. Or a theoretical lens in which will guide my research. Can anyone help me with this

Yes, that's right. There are many negative effects of social media activities on adolescent mental health. The scale of this problem increased during the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic due to the quarantine and lockdown periods implemented by the government. Also, the remote education provided permanently during the pandemic via the Internet also fostered the fact that children and young people spent more time in front of the computer or laptop and much less time on physical activity and playing together with their peers outdoors, on the playground, in the field, etc. Young people are also spending more and more time playing online computer games on laptops, computers or smartphones. Social media sites are viewed by young people on their smartphones in various situations. It has been estimated that in my country, the statistical citizen spends as much as 23 years of his or her life in front of a computer or smartphone, significantly reducing the time previously spent on other forms of leisure or entertainment activities. Children and young people are particularly affected by spending too much time on social media. Studies already show that social relations, group interaction, teamwork and related issues of psycho-social development, etc. have deteriorated significantly in the current generation of young people, i.e. generation Z. In addition, studies show that physical fitness is deteriorating much faster and visual impairments are appearing faster in young people due to sitting in front of a laptop and/or smartphone for too long. In addition, children and young people are susceptible to misinformation, factual information and advertisements about products and services from various companies when they look at various posts, messages, banners, etc. on social media. It is particularly dangerous for children and their psyche if children and young people browse various social media sites without parental control.
