I have a Matlab program that use a lot of random number generation (more than 500k) running on 2 different computers (same Matlab 2014a) and I got different results considering set rng default when running.
For small program, the results are the same but for big program, I observed the difference. Does anyone know the reasons ? Thanks in advance.
As a first step to unify your results on both systems try to use the same seed for all the random generation parts of your program.
Thanks a lot for your answer and sorry for late update. I carefully checked the code (even copy them between 2 computers).
I also have the same seed (by rng default or seed 0). 2 computer have Intel core i5 (but different names), same RAM.
Regarding the software, same Matlab version, same windows 7.
For many cases, the results are the same (if set the same seed for the random generator), but especially 1 of my code (the most complicated) has this problem.
I am just curious the reason why ? Maybe the most noticeable difference is the CPU in my case.
