Some researchers do send their work to editing or proofreading teams/companies. They might not know all the software and processes involved. all they want is a finished report/project. Suppose the company uses AI and does not inform the researcher of all the processes invoked. I wonder whether blame-shifting would be acceptable by the publisher of such an article.
I think the first one to be blamed is the researcher, as he is the one who is fully responsible at the end for his research or article, as his or her name will be written on this piece of work. In some journal guidelines, which I read, they state that if they find any plagiarism or AI content, they will contact the researcher's institution to inform them to take action.
Nourhan Moustafa El-Sherbiny thanks for this answer. That leaves one with more problems because some publishers might consider even Grammarly as AI. Besides, not all authors are knowledgeable about everything publication
I think researchers nowadays should have knowledge and learn about this stuff and find new tools to overcome this problem, as this is part of the working environment that they live in and should be updated about.
