When you reach a canal free of: referred pain for the patient, secretions and fetid smells. You instrument with files again or just finish treatment without touch canal?
When I said "primary RCT" I meant it was not a retreatment.
It all depends on what you reached in the first visit. In my practice we try to finish everything in a single visit, even if there is no evidence single visit is better than multiple visit.
What is the reason that brings you delay the filling? Maybe the impossibility to achieve a perfect control of moisture?
If in the last consultation you know you already had adequately shaped the root canal system, probably you only would like to clean the endodontic space (better combining hypocrite and US-tips or files activation of the irrigant) before filling.
I was writing about a RCT that you improved in two or more visits. Canals that you prepare in a few seassons of treatment and in the last visit they are clean and have all conditions to be filling.
There are criteria that you can preparate with a file in the last visit before filling. I wan to know if you agree with this.
I agree with Francesca, if you have effectively shaped the canals in the previous visits, there is no need for further instrumentation. Well, you can use a file just to ensure patency of the canals, but irrigation with some ultrasonic activation would be sufficient before you obturate.
