I have a geochemical analysis represented by GC of natural gas samples from southern Iraqi oilfields, as you think, how can evaluate the natural gas in the reservoir? I am waiting for your valuable ideas and highlights.
With GC-MS (tandem MS for some specific compounds) we can get both the qualitative and the quantitative composition of the gas. Of course, this can be more or less troublesome depending on the specific composition. For example, the content of H2S can be a serious issue which for the accuracy of the analysis.
1) If you want to find GC methods for analyzing natural gas, then describe exactly what equipment you have. At least: the chromatograph brand, column parameters, detector type.
2) If you have already performed an analysis and now want to interpret the results, then give at least 1 chromatogram.
Thank you for this response. I already have the GC analysis of gas samples, and I want to interpret this analysis. I may need a method to delineate like these searches.
All gas analysis are normally very complex. Many times a single column may not separate all gas components. Valve operations with column switching is employed for many complex gas analysis. For individual gas identification. you will require authentic standards. Many times it will be difficult also. GCMS can be a better option where you can do both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
To evaluate the composition, you have 2 methods: use normalize like ISO or ASTM, or you develop a method from zero. What do you want qualitative or quantitative analysis?
