In the 21st century, why do we have tests, and exams in the focus of our education?
In the video below, Noam Chomsky, the father of modern linguistics talks about how testing does NOT serve the main purpose of education. How can we get to the point in which true education is more important than any time of (standardized) exams?

Good question. English first caters to many who have not received academic proficiency in English which also includes students born in the United States. American education factories are concerned with the education labels and not the product, our students. Currently, many states have included other pathways for high school graduation to increase graduation rate.
Very interesting query. A test system that does not measure emotional intelligence or wellbeing and critical 21st-century skills and future fluencies as well as personality traits, values and effort, is bound to being a failure. Instead of traditional exam-based process, we could go for project-based assessment, resumes and portfolios. How these will be carried out depend on the context, teacher ad students.
