It's exciting to see the black hole picture today (https://www.sciencenews.org/article/black-hole-first-picture-event-horizon-telescope). From my understanding of VLBI, the baselines among observatories give the fundamental limit of the resolution.

To further improve the resolution of the picture, I'm wondering if we can establish an observatory on the Moon so that we can greatly increase the baseline and therefore achieve a much higher resolution.

An alternative way is to establish an observatory network composed of ground observatories and artificial satellites. This can also give a better resolution than the current picture.

Just some thoughts in mind.
