The PIC value determines the level of allelic variation and it can reach a max of 1.0 if a genotype has only new alleles, though it is a rare phenomenon. PIC value will be “0” if there is no allelic variation. The PIC value for dominant markers varies between 0 and 0.5 where as for co-dominant markers its between 0 and 1.
