Base unit may require setting to 0 in order for the ETS-D5 to control the heater. If the base unit is used to set temperature, and just above ambient is the set point this error will occur due to a slow change in temperature (No change in 3 minutes). I am working on a ETS-D5 that does not control the Base unit even when set to 0 (C-mag HS7) possibly due to incompatible base unit and this is what has caused the error- may help although ive only had a few hours experience with these devices.

Only a little bit of experience with these but I would start by switching the base unit to zero, set the ETS-D5 to 80°C then when the ETS-D5 pulses the base unit if the base unit does not light the heater symbol this means your ETS-D5 does not control your base unit just like the one I have here. Now set the ETS-D5 Hi temp to 85-90°C in mode A, this should remain as a safety (Any temperature that breaches 85-90°C causes the base unit to E09 safety circuit cut out). So the base unit is the control of temperature the ETS-D5 is used to monitor temperature within your media which would need to be tweeked in order to get to the required temperature of 80°C without breaching your Hi temp of 85-90°C...You may already have this set-up, I have noticed differences in volume media create large differencebetween base temperature and ETS-D5 temperature which can cause this error also, I would have to experiment to see why this error persists :). hope that helps
