What does someone means by WHAT DATA, is the answer likert scale questionnaire, numerical nominal data. If we are taking consumer opinion using questionnaire what data will that be called?
Hey, let's see if I can help some. If someone is asking about the specific classification of the question, then most Likert scale questions would be classified as quantitative and ordinal measurements of attitude toward a particular feature or topic. Quantitative, because the categories represent numbers (e.g. strongly agree -3, agree +2, etc.) And Ordinal because the values have a natural order, but numerical comparisons between the categories such as addition, division, etc. cannot be done. Nominal data would be any simple classification such as employed/unemployed (no order).
Your question is confusing. If they ask you what are you using to collect your data or what instruments are you using to collect the data then what you wrote above (likert, questionnaire) would be a correct response.
If the person is asking you what data are you collecting then you would explain what your study is about. I hope I answered that correctly.
Laverne A. Davis Hi thanks for the answer, that is the same situation i came across i got confused, someone asked "what Data", and i knew likert scale is not the right answer, therefore i was wondering what to answer.
Good morning Sultana, it sounds like they are trying to understand what your study is about or what instruments you are going to use. If you tell us what your study is, I think we can help you more.
Laverne A. Davis Hi my research is about identifying factors that influence consumers towards green usage of technology. i need to empirically test the model and validate it.
Ok, so if you said that to me and I wanted to know more. I would ask what design, and what kind of instruments will be you be using to conduct your data collection? You then would be the expert you are, and tell me what you are going to use. Depending on your methodology and design, you will be able to say so confidently. Do not doubt yourself. If you are unsure of what you should use, then ask the question and we can help you figure it out. Your research questions will really help.
Hi Sultana, what is the context of the question, and who asked? Why don't you ask them to clarify the question?
If situation is formal, and there are more questions about the project (for example, if this is a question in a project proposal), see: 1) what are the other questions - provide new information to avoid repetition 2) how much space you have (describe briefly or in detail).
Laverne A. Davis Hi, thanks for your support and interest to help me. i wanted to send you a PM but i think i did not find an option to send you a private message. if you can send me a message i can send you further information.
