I think there are a lot of theories, based on your perspective. almost all media theories may be use to study very different dimensions of this complicated phenomenon, because the revolutionaries are not same in characteristics and sometimes they are very different. I think bandwagon effect and Opinion Leaders are two special theory that despite their relatively old, are enable to study some specific characters of these movement upon my perspective. you may have different one.
