IMO, Not fully, AI needs meaningful information and continuous updates to be relevant as per target customers, market and domain (all dynamic factors).
How will you take care these tasks? You need a smarter human task force. We cannot expect the same job 10 years down the line. Job profile will be changed, not job creation mechanism much. AI is going to be a change agent. People with stronger inertia than AI effects may be obsolete in the market.
Any task that can be broken down into a list of steps can be handled by an AI, if not now, then soon. I don't have a comprehensive knowledge of operational positions needed to run and sustain the entire segment of online banking, so I can't say for sure which positions can't be broken down into steps. My hunch is all of them can. Thus, I predict online banking, as well as its updates, scaling, and improvements, will be fully automated, rendering human jobs in this sector obsolete. That assumes that profit is the ultimate objective. It's quite possible there will be other objectives, such as corporate image, culture, compliance to new laws & tax avoidance, etc. If any of this is the case, some human jobs will remain in that sector, but they will be a low-paid, low-labor joke. If anyone argues that AI will complement jobs, create new jobs, augment human jobs, or any of that ilk, the burden of proof is on you to explain exactly which part of that job can't be broken down into discreet steps. Spoiler alert: there are none. Everything under the sun is basically an infinite regress of atomistic steps, and technology is going to continue down that rabbit hole, x-ing out every instance of required human involvement, one by one. A state switching from human labor force to AI labor force is scary – like swapping out an organic heart for an artificial one. Scary doesn't mean it won't or can't or shouldn't happen. The whole idea of human labor is like a clogged, atrophied heart. It needs to be replaced so that all humans can do more meaningful things.
Hello everyone, thank you for participating in the discussion. I would like to add the following question to this discussion: Will the application of Industry 4.0 technology, including machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to electronic internet banking, continue to decline in the share of traditional banking based on physically functioning bank branches and employees?
Please reply,
What's your opinion on this topic?
Please answer me and invite you to the discussion,
Dear Jai Deo Tiwari, Murat Karakoyun, Rob Lubow, Emmanuel V Murray, Anatolii Solovev, Thank you very much for participating in this discussion and providing inspiring and informative answers to the above question: If artificial intelligence is implemented for the online mobile banking, can this banking segment be deprived of human capital? This discussion confirms the importance of the above-mentioned issues and the legitimacy of developing research on this subject. I also believe that the application of artificial intelligence to electronic internet banking systems, including mobile banking, will increase, but this technological progress in banking should not lead to the dismissal of all personnel in electronic internet banks. Best wishes,
@Dariusz, thanks for reviving this topic. When you say it “should“ not dismiss all personnel, is that a moral judgement, a prediction, or a recommendation? I ask because it sounds normative, not descriptive. The interesting part of this question is for someone to assert that there is a task or position in banking that requires human personnel in perpetuity, and to apply reason to unpack that assertion and see how well it holds up. Usually the answer I get is “we don’t know, but history shows there are always new positions.” This position, however, ignores how progressive automation is exponential once it‘s able to mimic, and exceed the abilities of human thought, communication, reason, intuition, dexterity, etc.
