I am working on biosurfactant. i found some hydrocarbon degrading bacteria. in some bacteria, they form emulsify layer where as i did not found a significant result for oil displacement test.
you need to do a time profile on this starting with a 24 hr period up to 96 hrs. Then reduce the time period if required.
Surface tension reduction is the well accepted methods for screening for biosurfactant production. Other methods indicate surface activity but will be more so for emulsifier characterization.
If there is no marked reduction in surface and interfacial tension surfactant generation is low or absent. Then either the cells, cell debris, exopolymers or a combination of them are responsible for stabilization of emulsion droplets.
