Hi there,

I am a researcher based in India and working on microbial generation of fuels using algae/bacteria. Recently I have got a strain of algae/cyanobacteria from the wastewater of a local plant. I would like to ask a few questions as follows.

1. Are there any easy lab-based method available to specifically distinguish whether a green pigmented strain is an algae or a cyanobacteria in a reliable way and how to perform it?

2. In India, are there any organization/company from where I can get the genus and species of my algal/cyanobacterial sample identified? (I already contacted NCIM and MTCC for this and they replied they does not conduct algal idntification)

Thanks
