According to the product’s data sheet, ibotenic acid can be dissolved at 1 mg/ml in water. However, most studies I found use PBS. Is there a problem using water or saline? If so, why?
With "PBS" do you mean phosphate buffer solution? At around pH 7? If so, then it's just for preservation. Even if you simply google it you'll easily find information that shows that is a good preservation technique.
