I know that in some articles it can be found the description of boron compund like i.e. tetrahedrally boron atoms connection by using EELS spectroscopy diagrams. If it is possible to recognize the placement by signal shape?
I'm working on boron-carbon samples and I'm interesting how they are connected to carbon and other boron atoms.

EELS is very useful when you have relative low number of atoms, helping you to identify it in your sample. Additionally, differences of shape and position in EELS spectroscopy is associated to allotropes, for instance, diferences in the peak of C element could be associated to different allotropes as graphite, diamond or amorphous carbon. I think in this case XPS or FTIR will be a better option to study boron-carbon bond.
Thank you for your answer Artur! I will try to analyze it in that way and if it is possible - neutron scattering. As you said the problem is the low Z number... the detection of the boron is impossible also by using SEM EDS (23 wt.% B) is to close to carbon in term of Kalpha energy.
