Is someone who could indicate me some pattern of such teaching ? Can you have any computer programs to exercises in anatomy or know a good source of interactive lectures ? I will be very grateful for your help !!!
As a Teaching Assistant/Lecturer for Anatomy at the University at Buffalo I felt it was important for the students to have supplemental information/review sheets for them to use during there coursework as they prepared for exams/quizzes, so that they could effectively test their knowledge and identify areas in which they were proficient, and inadequate so that they could more efficiently make use of there time focusing on the areas which they were struggling. In addition I wanted it to be interactive and fun for them to enjoy as well. I used a two format approach to create the review sheets. The 1st format consisted of the lecture notes with additional pictures, videos, etc to serves as visual cues for further understanding, with certain key works left blank in the notes. Instructing them after having gone to lecture to later that evening open my set of lecture notes with the blanks in them, and as they read the lecture recall from there memory the correct answer and fill it in. Once completed the entire lecture they could refer back to there lecture notes to see if they had the correct answer. The second format consisted of questions. For example, What nerve innervates the biceps? However I did not supply them with choices to choose from, despite the format of there exams being multiple choice. As you know the ability to recall information from memory is much more difficult than being able to recognize the correct answer in front of you. My idea behind using that particular mode of testing, was that if the students practiced sufficiently, identified weak areas, focused on improving, vigorously tested themselves and each other. That at the time of the exam they would be confident in their knowledge and understanding of Human Anatomy and would Ace the test. I have attached a few files of the review sheets I made. I made one for each and every lecture in the course. I would be more than happy to supply you with all the review sheets I made if you are interested. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in the additional review sheets, I would be more than happy to send them to you. Additionally, I would love to hear more about the interactive learning laboratory for Anatomy you are creating. I believe that the creation og this particular tool will be instrumental in facilitating a superior level of supplemental teaching material for students to gain and improve there understanding of Anatomy, and it would be a pleasure to assist/collaborate with you anyway that I can. I have all of the 35 completed lectures, I have attached the first 3 lectures so that you can get a feel for what I did. I look forward to hearing from you, I hope you find this helpful!
Your welcome, thank you for your kind words. I am glad you found my answer helpful, It would be my pleasure to send you the extensive list of documents I created if you will be able to use them with your students. I wish you the best of luck in creating an interactive program for the instruction for Anatomy, I look forward to hearing about the program you created. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
