I want to separate microbia on medium solution so that I can test NH4+, nitrite and nitrate on the supernatant. How much rpm/g needed in centrifuge?

Hi,

it depends on your centrifuge and the volumen of the bottles you will use. If you use a 1.5 or 2 ml Eppendorf tube, you can centrifuge 15 min at high speed. 14.000 g or rpm. In this small tube it is unlikely that the cells burst. If you have a larger tube, e.g. 500 ml or 1000 ml. you should centrifuge longer but with less rpm, because than the cells can burst and you will measure also the ammonium and nitrate concentration of the cells.

Sorry I have no paper for that, but I have worked with nitrifiers since 2005 and have measured at lot of supernatent.
