I heated HDPE geomembrane in xylene at 130 degree C with stir bars in the vials. On cooling down, some of the melted HDPE remained stuck on the stir bars. Instead of buying new stir bars, I want to reuse the old ones. So, How can i remove the HDPE from the stir bars. Should I again heat the stir bars in xylene at 130 degree C or is there any other chemical that i can use?

xylene should work... it should work on polypropylene as well (fyi). However, you should do it in a fume hood, with a heating mantle, and be very careful. I haven't kept track of the cost of stirring bars, but you might want to compare it against the cost of cleaning and solvent disposal.
