I have found Porphyridium in both red and blue green colour. From freshwater it was collected in red colour and from salt pan most of the Porphyridium were blue green colour only..
I think the presence of mucilage around the cell might be protecting it from so called stress..
Species of Euglena and Chlamydomonas also changed their color due to adverse environmental conditions. They accumulate pigments to cope with changed parameters.
Hello, I have four P. cruentum cultures thav have chancged the red color into green in 6 days. I use Guillard F/2, 24 celsius temp and 7,5pH. I am looking to obtain the red pigments. Some advices?
