Anyways, it is dependent on the fish species. However I know that most dissections are done via the ventral part (abdominal cavity) of the fish, slightly above the genital papilia for mainly finishes. Gradual cut is made exposing the gonads and they are carefully detached from the protective sac to avoid puncture of the gonads.
