I recently loaded a dataset onto my Weka tool but I am not able to apply Random Forest or even Linear Regression on that data. The problem I am facing is that when I select these algorithms to run on the data, the start option is not enabled. Is it something to do with the data set I am using? Since they have nominal and numerical values.
If anyone knows the reason behind this, kindly let me know.

Go to tool (its available on opening first page of weka), then search the algo you want then installed it. close the weka and open again. The algo you installed would automatically aded in weka package.

I use both R and Weka and suggest that one might do what the other won't. For linear regression using the Explorer interface in the Weka GUI, open a file which can be a CSV or ARFF. You may have to select a type under 'Files of type" and set 'Use training set'. Then it will be necessary to remove any non-numeric attributes as they are not appropriate for linear regression. The Weka GUI will allow you to select a column where you see (Num) column name. This will by your dependent, 'y' variable. You can have more than one independent 'x' variable, but they all have to be numeric. If the analysis has been set-up so that Weka knows what to do, touch START. I got this to work with the 'iris' data set. A test set can be used if it is set-up like the training set.
